Nice link with The mushroom at the end of the world, a fascinating investigation of how futures may be hacked from (or brought to) a collapse of the present, unplanned, on the margins
Our first blog post is out there 😃
We shared some thoughts about what guided us during the creation of our logo...
@bonfire will it be possible to use Bonfire as an API-only service? So i can build my own solution on top of it?
No matter what - that project sounds super exciting. Something i was planning to build but never had enough free time
Bonfire is a new project that aims to combine an open source hardware device with FOSS federated social networks to allow you to physically control your own data, and to operate offline too if you want. You can follow at:
The official website is at https://bonfire.cafe
(Bonfire was previously known as CommonsPub.)
@bonfire I love the name "Bonfire" - makes me think of Dark Souls, and the security bonfires provide. What was the source of the name?
CommonsPub and the quest for a modular decentralised app ecosystem https://conf.tube/videos/watch/d66cf9ea-e8bf-452e-bb36-e88a402e3da2
Just launched a first draft of our website with a little info about what we're cooking: https://bonfire.cafe
TL;DR: Bonfire will be:
1. a pre-configured device
2. a fediverse identity hosted service (which syncs between the fediverse and the device whenever it comes online)
3. apps (web apps but they run on the device instead of the cloud)
Hello fediverse! you may want to check out the short presentation @mayel recorded for #apconf, which introduces our @bonfire https://conf.tube/videos/watch/d66cf9ea-e8bf-452e-bb36-e88a402e3da2
A federated social network for individuals and communities to design, operate and control their own digital lives.
Continuation of the @commonspub project
