Bonfire boosted

We have decided to retire as a project name and to focus in on @bonfire instead. Please follow us there or visit bonfire.cafe to learn more

Note that #peertube uses #youtubedl to give you the possibility to import your videos from YouTube, and personnaly it is a piece of software dear to my heart.

Since #youtube-dl is now unavailable on its own repository, you might think that it impacts PeerTube instances.

But the download URL which our wrapper and our auto-updater use was updated this morning, now redirecting to abf-downloads.openmandriva.org

Even if that URL or domain was to be taken down, PeerTube instances could still be installed but would not have a functioning import feature.

The point of focus should now be to resume development somewhere safe, potentially recovering issues along the way since they are a project's memory…

@bonfire I love the name "Bonfire" - makes me think of Dark Souls, and the security bonfires provide. What was the source of the name?

Just launched a first draft of our website with a little info about what we're cooking: bonfire.cafe

TL;DR: Bonfire will be:

1. a pre-configured device
2. a fediverse identity hosted service (which syncs between the fediverse and the device whenever it comes online)
3. apps (web apps but they run on the device instead of the cloud)
