Along with that will come customisable roles for instance administration and moderation (to go beyond just having "admins"), and so we're thinking about what's needed for that, feedback and suggestions are welcome 😃, see details at https://github.com/bonfire-networks/bonfire-app/issues/406

👋 As part of upcoming milestones, we're implementing a way for users to create circles (like in the old G+), but going beyond using it to define audiences (i.e. visibility of content), with very granular ways to define permissions on what you post (i.e. so you can give one of your circles permission to edit your post, or use it simply to lock-down who can reply, etc): https://github.com/bonfire-networks/bonfire-app/issues/223
@RyunoKi @gotosocial @humanetech
Hi RyunoKi. Also, @bonfire is in beta and *very* much interested in accessibility.
In our annual course on UX and Inclusive Design (uxdi.org) we have also a team of 6 students interested on this that will work on the Bonfire project until December.
Whatever knowledge you can share on accessibility topics on #Bonfire too (no competence with #GotoSocial intended please, we are on the same #Fediverse boat) will be very warmly appreciated. :)
Maybe we can complement somehow both efforts? Defining basic tests for both and any other Fediverse tools?
I'm very open to discuss and carry on the accessibility thing forward.
Best... :)
I strongly advise you to test Bonfire: a new social network, with an UI such as Mastodon, completed with extensions at a long run. You can test it, fix bugs, suggest some feature and so much on! @bonfire

No federation (yet, it's Beta). When it's ready, feel free to create your own safe space, a new bonfire.

For those of you who have been testing the @bonfire playground and then got frustrated by slowdowns, there's a fix and things are faster again! 🙌
Today, the Bonfire team is excited to announce our beta release 🔥🎉
We’re aware that Bonfire still needs a lot of work - like ensuring it federates as expected and improving configurability, accessibility and user experience - but that’s the point: we decided to launch at this stage with the intention of building the 1.0 release as a community.

In my opinion, the whole #Bonfire UI is adorable and promising

New blog post on the upcoming #bonfire beta release: https://bonfirenetworks.org/posts/beta_what_to_expect/
"In a few days' time we'd like to invite you to experiment with a 'playground' instance of Bonfire, the federated social networking toolkit for communities. Lots of what you'll see in the Bonfire beta will be recognisable from other social and/or federated apps. There is some functionality that may be a little different with Bonfire as well."
Just noodling about with a test server of @bonfire and I have to say the ability to add and switch profiles is just awesome.
Not sure if there's a limit to how many profiles one account can have, but even just having two (and 'A side' and 'B side' if you will) is so cool 🤘

"We're now days away from the beta release of Bonfire, a federated app toolkit. When beta users get their hands on it, however, they might be confused: wait, this looks like just another microblogging app! haven't we already got enough of those?"

In view of the @bonfire beta release, I'm doing some research on codes of conducts (suggestions welcome!), starting with a paper that opens with:
"Despite claims to being counterculture and a better
alternative, grassroots activist design groups and free culture movements may replicate the marginalizing behaviours of dominant society, also in their governance and designs of their interaction platforms. We developed a code-of-conduct, or Community Guidelines, for our online commons- oriented group to nurture a sense of a caring and mutually responsible community. The guidelines aim to bring into online interaction the living person-to-person dialogic relationality we exhibit in collaborative work offline. Our social learning process could have implications for designing healthier online community protocols and platforms and be able to better tackle the challenges of intersectionality."

This looks very interesting, I’ve not seen much ActivityPub in the Elixir space apart from Pleroma.
