@meduz Just "className" alone is a crime against humanity. And we know it wasn't even necessary because Preact gets it right and you can use class. 😆

Fall time in Portland is simply breathtaking. The air glows. Everything smells incredible. Colors popping everywhere.

Spring is also usually amazing, but this year our spring was rather dismal. And then early summer was sweltering. So I am VERY happy to be outside right now. 😁

@meduz I've been on a React project for some while now, and…yeah. 😅

I really wish I could pivot to working more with Vue 3. I did some work early on with Vue 2 years ago, and it was pretty enjoyable. I think Vue's philosophy is way more aligned with my own.

Also JS + JSDoc over TS syntax any day! 🙌

Publish (on your) Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere (POSSE)

Publish Elsewhere, Syndicate (to your) Own Site (PESOS)

Two different IndieWeb concepts!

I tried the first. Over time…I didn’t like it. (I know this will make me very unpopular in IW/fediverse circles! 😭)

Nevertheless, I’m determined to find a way to make PESOS work.

I’ve been rocking the iPhone mini lifestyle since the 12 series debuted. I love my mini. I love that form factor. And I’m sad to see it go.

However, if I’ve got to leave the world of the mini behind, I’m going Pro.

Dynamic Island 😍

The new iPhone lock screen designs and widgets is the absolute best advertisement for the always-on iPhone Pro models imaginable.

It drives me nuts now that my screen just shuts off and I see nothing but black. Arrgghh! 🥴

On the Fresh Fusion Podcast:

Last night I had a bunch of pent-up thoughts and some helpful tools/workflows to share with you all and figured now is as good a time as any to dive into all that!

@fury Good point. Sometimes I click a link from here or birdsite or wherever, and it's basically just a tiny microblog post, and that's a bit of a letdown.

I have zero confidence in the future of Patreon.

They should have *never* hired Julian Gutman, and they should have *never* taken ridiculous piles of VC money.

All the indie spirit of the platform is gone. It genuinely sucks. 😭

I tried to take the Amtrak train from Portland to Seattle…got thrown on a bus instead. Oh well! Despite that bummer, I had an amazing time up in Washington. Here’s the first part of my latest Seattle vlog series, with a special focus on Snoqualmie Falls!

So far I'm really enjoying She-Hulk! If they can stick the landing, it'll be one of my top 3 favorite Disney+ MCU shows.

As this point, my ranking is:

1. Loki
2. Ms. Marvel
3. She-Hulk
4. Hawkeye
5. WandaVision
6. Moon Knight
7. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Also, a new avatar! Welcome to the Portland waterfront and my favorite hat! 🤓

Hey y'all, I have a new video series covering web development topics with a bent towards "vanilla" tech (aka just using browser-native HTML, CSS, and JS) called—ironically—The Spicy Web!

First two videos are online, one about CSS Cascade Layers and the other about how to upgrade some messy JS code to a nice encapsulated web component!

Yesterday I went kayaking for the first time ever on the Willamette River. I can *highly recommend* this particular endeavor!

(The wake from large passing speedboats was pretty nerve-racking though. Did not care for that! 😅)

Trains are pretty great. Public mass transport is amazing. Can we please have exponentially more of it?

The first time I saw Tilikum Crossing as I was driving through Portland, I did a double-take. It’s a very unique bridge with a fascinating (very recent!) history. The only (?) major NO-CARS-ALLOWED span in America! youtube.com/watch?v=aiyxsEAEP4
