The future ten minutes from now:

Booting up my desktop machine (more powerful than most historical supercomputers) to run an emulated general purpose computer system (web browser) to run an IDE that will only store and execute things in the cloud (other people's general purpose computer). Assuming they don't lock me out.

The future ten minutes from now:

If the complexity collapse happens, I think there will be a part of me that will be relieved to not have to be fighting off weirdos constantly trying to control me with computers.

The future ten seconds from now:

Software industry busily constructing the shackles for themselves and others.

Sorry for the negativity this mornin'. I try to keep these things to myself and provide a more positive vision of the future, since I want to believe a more positive vision is possible. But I fail too often. I might delete the thread later.
